What is llms.txt?

llms.txt is a Markdown file at the root of your site (like robots.txt) that tells large language models what your site is and which pages matter. It starts with an H1 name, a blockquote summary, then sections of links with short notes.

It's much easier for an LLM to read than your rendered HTML, so assistants and agents can answer questions about your product accurately and link to the right page.

Tips

Keep the summary factual and specific: what the product does, pricing model, and who it's for. Link canonical pages, not tracking URLs. Put optional or long-tail pages under an "Optional" section so agents can skip them when context is short.
