What is GEO?

Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is SEO for AI answers. When someone asks ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity or Google's AI Overviews for "the best AI tool for X", those systems pull from pages they could crawl and understand. If your robots.txt blocks their crawlers or your page has no clear title, description and structured data, you are invisible in those answers.

This checker looks at the signals that matter most for AI citation and gives you a score with concrete fixes.

FAQ

Does blocking GPTBot remove me from ChatGPT?

Blocking GPTBot stops OpenAI training crawls; OAI-SearchBot and ChatGPT-User power ChatGPT search and browsing. Block the first if you like, but allow the search bots if you want to be cited.

Is llms.txt required?

No standard requires it yet, but it is a cheap, growing convention that gives LLMs a clean map of your site. It takes five minutes with our llms.txt generator.

Why is my score low if Google indexes me fine?

Classic SEO and GEO overlap but aren't identical: many sites block AI crawlers by accident (often via a CDN or security plugin) or lack the structured data LLMs rely on.
